I feel like I've been aware of this encounter since I was born. I believe that what Mr. Walton wrote about is true. The book is good but does tend to be tedious in the appendix and when Mr.

Walton attempts to speculate about the intentions of the aliens and investigators. Overall a good read and account. Jan 25, Victoria rated it it was amazing Shelves: Coupled with the movie of the same name, a fascinating look at an alleged alien abduction. May 30, Eelaynuh rated it really liked it.

I really enjoyed this book. I didn't read it cover to cover because I wasn't really as interested in some of the details he chose to get into. I read the beginning about his background a bit braggadocios but still interesting enough , the lead-up to the incident the work they were doing , the incident itself, and some of the aftermath. After that I skipped ahead to read a bit about the casting of the movie and that was it.

I think some of the detail was a bit tedious but I understand why it was I really enjoyed this book. I think some of the detail was a bit tedious but I understand why it was this way.

He wanted to set the record straight and he wanted to be thorough. I myself have been accused of being long-winded when I'm really just trying to be thorough as well. He wanted everyone to have the full picture. So if you find as I did that some of the writing is excessive then skip around.

There's still a lot of great material in here that is worth the read. I'm a skeptical but open minded person. In the end, I tend to believe these guys. That is to say that I believe that they told the truth about what they perceived to be happening.

Fire in the Sky: The Walton Experience

It's entirely possible though unlikely that this was a government operation that they stumbled on. But I think they are credible guys and didn't have a reason to make this up.

Aug 07, Doreena rated it did not like it. Really sorry I wasted my time reading this poorly written book. Everything that was dialogue ended in a question mark, causing me to wonder if the author himself was sure about writing this book or not. Dont waste your time. A straightforward account of an encounter that defies easy explanation. The movie's great, but really nothing like the real events outside of the abduction in the forest.

A good first step for readers into ufology with a very believable case and witness.

May 22, Lawrence rated it it was amazing. Some will tell you that mysterious ships have been seen hovering over rural regions, no apparent concern with being spotted by us feeble humans.

It was November 5th, Walton and a handful of his co-workers were stuffed in a truck, in motion, when they suddenly spotted something unidentifiable hovering in the air a mere feet away. The UFO emitted a high-pitched buzz, and apparently, that buzz called to the curious side of Walton, who left the truck and approached the floating ship. Within seconds the man had been essentially sucked through the air, into the ship. What followed for local residents was a five-day manhunt, a massive search party that yielded nothing.

And he came back with a terrifying account of what transpired during his time away from our reality. I've been interested in this story since I was little, when the incident itself was 15 years old - now it's been 40 years since Travis lost 5 days. My sister and I are fans of Travis and his unchanging story, the movie made about this in 'Fire in the Sky' , I'm friends with him on facebook and my best friend met him last year in Sydney.

I found this book in a Katoomba bookshop and my sister was the first to read it after I got it - I've finally read it after having it for a year. It's a goo I've been interested in this story since I was little, when the incident itself was 15 years old - now it's been 40 years since Travis lost 5 days.

It's a good story, his telling of it is nice and concise - in 40 years, his story, nor has his workmates story, changed in all that time.

There is no evidence of hoax here. All 7 witnesses have been truthful from the moment it happened, knowing they'd be ridiculed. The skeptics have not been able to win. The movie is different in many ways especially when he is within the flying saucer , but reading this detailed account matches all the documentaries I have seen.

It was great to read the details in this book, like I have never come across before, knowing what really happened on that ship - in the two hours out of 5 days that he was conscious - has been great, bizarre and unbelievable..

Travis held a conference in Nov in Phoenix, 40 years after the incident, and he even went to the forest clearing where he was abducted. It's become his life, he trips around and does talks and is very friendly to approach.

About the Book

If he wasn't into UFO's before this happened and he wasn't , he certainly is now. This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers.

To view it, click here. I was really looking forward to reading this book after seeing the film in the 90s when I was a kid. This book is nothing like the movie.

What really bothers me about it is that he spends very little time talking about the actual abduction and more time talking about the making of the film version, the people who tried and failed to prove him to be a liar, and the reasons for why the film is such a huge departure from the book. What struck me most about Travis himself is that he is very well spo I was really looking forward to reading this book after seeing the film in the 90s when I was a kid. What struck me most about Travis himself is that he is very well spoken.

I just wish I knew more about his abduction than what is presented here. Dec 16, Jon rated it it was ok Shelves: This book highlights an alien abduction that happened where I grew up, so I like it mainly because the author talks about the town where I grew up and the areas I explored as a kid.

Kinda nostalgic. The alien abduction part was very disappointing. The whole event took all of 15 minutes. The way the author built it up I was expecting a much more exciting story.

The prelude and Chapter 1 were also written to make you feel like a bigot if you didn't believe his story. I thought it was a mildly inte This book highlights an alien abduction that happened where I grew up, so I like it mainly because the author talks about the town where I grew up and the areas I explored as a kid. I thought it was a mildly interesting account but honestly, too boring for how much it was built up. Feb 28, Roger Charles rated it really liked it.

I hoped there would have been more information about the craft and the time spent there, however, he told what he could recall. The personal story of this event and his roller coaster of emotions is richly told and interesting. Travis seems to be well grounded sorry for the pun and highly intelligent.

The story comes across as true and authentic. Jul 29, Andrew Hennessey rated it it was amazing. Nov 13, Jerry Travis rated it it was amazing Shelves: The aliens in the movie, though interesting, were a total Hollywood fabrication.

Read to book to find out what really happened to Travis while aboard the UFO. All in all, I though the book was quite interesting and informative.

Dec 10, P. Winn rated it really liked it. This is an amazing story and to this day those who had the UFO experience claim it all really happened. Readers have to pick this one up. What is out there and how close are aliens to this world? Jun 01, Adam S. House rated it it was amazing. I have an autographed copy of this book. Most realize that Hollywood did not stick with the real story.

They want to get the book to find out the details of what really happened.

So I finally finished printing a newly updated edition. It has revisions and additional illustrations and 25 more pages of material. It is a 6x9 softcover of pages, using a higher quality whiter paper and a clearer font and format.
